Since the formation of the Englewood Cultural Arts Center Association (Englewood Arts) in 2001, a number of successful programs have been implemented. Englewood Arts did not delay -- it has been operating as an Art Center without Walls, introducing innovative programs in the schools and providing opportunites for the community to enjoy a variety of arts.
Strings Attached - String Instrument Instruction
In 2002, Englewood Arts initiated this after-school program of beginning and intermediate violin and cello instruction for Englewood elementary school and middle school students. Since its inception, hundreds students have participated in the program.
The ARK program provides students with a full day of art experiences based on a social studies topic. Guest artists and volunteers introduced students to music, dance. clay and two-dimensional work.
Artist Residencies established through the PEAK program continue in several elementary schools. Professional artists share their skills instructing students in dance, keyboards and recorder.
Due to the success of the well-developed PEAK program, a second million dollar grant was awarded to the Englewood schools, again in collaboration with Englewood Arts. This program focuses on integrating mathematics and arts in middle schools. The four-year study began in the fall of 2006, and will be exported to rural schools in the final two years.
Million Dollar Federally Funded Program for Elementary Students,
PEAK was a four-year federally-funded study, granted to the Englewood schools, in partnership with Englewood Arts, in 2003 that examined the academic achievements of integrating arts with the core curriculum. It paired classroom teachers with professional artists to integrate arts techniques in reading and writing. By the end of the program (August, 2007). Students also benefited from residency collaborations in four arts disciplines - music, dance, theatre and visual arts. Follow-up evaluation determined that participating students had an increase in test scores as high as 20%.

In conjunction with the City of Englewood, Englewood Arts led the drive to build a 200-seat theatre, which was constructed in 2005 in the Englewood Civic Center. This handsome hall provides an affordable, stylish venue for a variety of community performances.
Englewood Arts Presents
In 2002, Englewood Arts initiated a music performance series presenting top artists and performers from the Denver area. The series, in large part, features musicians from the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO). Held in Hampden Hall, concerts have expanded in variety to include dance and various musical genres. Cyndi Mancinelli, formerly Vice President of Artistic Administration for the CSO, oversees the series.
